4:10 always carrying around in our body the death of Jesus, ¹  so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible ²  in our body.

2 Korintus 5:6

5:6 Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on earth ³  we are absent from the Lord –

10:10 because some say, “His letters are weighty and forceful, but his physical presence is weak ⁴  and his speech is of no account.” ⁵ 

2 Korintus 12:16

12:16 But be that as it may, I have not burdened you. Yet because I was a crafty person, I took you in by deceit!

[4:10]  ¹ tn The first clause of 2 Cor 4:10 is elliptical and apparently refers to the fact that Paul was constantly in danger of dying in the same way Jesus died (by violence at least). According to L&N 23.99 it could be translated, “at all times we live in the constant threat of being killed as Jesus was.”

[4:10]  ² tn Or “may also be revealed.”

[5:6]  ³ tn Grk “we know that being at home in the body”; an idiom for being alive (L&N 23.91).

[10:10]  ⁴ tn Or “unimpressive.”

[10:10]  ⁵ tn Or “is contemptible”; Grk “is despised.”
